    Mike Brown is Insane

Monday, December 1, 2008, 09:28 PM EST [General]

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
    Albert Einstein

After reading his interview in the Enquirer I think Mike Brown might literally be insane.
His responses are bizarre on so many different levels it is impossible to address all of them.

    • He was depending on Odell Thurman to be a key part of his defense? A guy who had one semi-productive NFL season and did not play for the last two years is a key part of your defense?
    • Are injuries not a part of the NFL that you must factor into your decision making process? So maybe injuries are your fault when you cut guys that could have been quality backups- like Rudy, Willie, and Deltha O’Neal?
    • Why is he still talking about DavidPollack? The NFL stands for Not For Long and even when a great guy like DavidPollack is hurt you need to move on.
    • Our players try hard? Don’t they get paid to try hard? Aren’t a lot of people routinely fired on planet earth in the real world where the rest of us live even if they try hard?
    • Having "too many players on injured reserve is a problems for the past couple of years" and they are still just looking at the problem? Could it have something to do with not having enough scouts to detect health problems before these guys are drafted or signed?
    • He thinks Carson Palmer would dramatically change the Bengals record? Counting offensive and defensive players Carson accounts for 5% of the players on the field (not including special teams). So even though Carson is only 5% of the team his presence would cause the team to take a "quantum leap forward". He is insane!
    • “They” (the fans) like to talk about certain things when things are not going well? Does he not consider 20 years of futility and incompetence more than a bad spell they are going through?
    • Is his arrogance so great that he believes giving a condescending and intelligence insulting interview like he gave is going to smooth everything over with the peons that pay his bills?

Mike Brown needs to turn the franchise over to "Harvey" the six foot tall rabbit that is his only friend and invest his time in something he is good at like maybe working for H&R Block.

    Slumlords Unite!

Monday, December 1, 2008, 08:21 PM CST [General]

And so a new family has taken residence in my childhood home.  Trucks arrived early on Friday and just as things were hauled out last week, new 'stuff' was hauled in throughout the weekend.

I have become a slumlord.  Actually, I prefer that title to Landlord.  I always get a smile when I introduce myself that way.  Besides, how do you call friends Tenants?  It's been a weird couple of weeks.  I've said a tearful goodbye to old family memories, but joyfully welcomed new beginnings at the old homestead.

Kid Norman made the A hockey team, yet I've never seen him more miserable.  How could someone work for nearly 10 years to reach a goal, yet suddenly lose the joy of the sport (hmmm perhaps its all the politics you've had to put up with?  Isn't it sad that our children learn such sad lessons so young because of the psycho parents out there!.  Alas, what's a mother to do?  Suggestions are welcomed.  I'm beginning to think that anyone that gets their kids involved in youth hockey in MN is either a sadist or just plain stupid.  Above all, I just want my kids to know their loved & to be happy.

And wth - Stephanie.....you're leaving the daily airwaves just as you were being allowed to show what a smart & talented woman you are - boo hoo!  While I love Jason, I mourn the loss of your smart discussions and creative programming.  Best of luck to you.  Seriously - you can always keep up to date right here on the "G-Spot"!!!!

    Slumlord.  Yup.  That's me.

GEORGE BUSH BREAKS IT DOWN WITH SOME REAL TALK

Monday, December 1, 2008, 09:20 PM EST [General]

President Bush is getting REALLY honest and giving us some real talk now that he's on his way out.

In an interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson, here's some interesting things Bush had to say....

    On the Iraq war:

Bush said he was "unprepared" for war and pinpointed incorrect intelligence that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction as "biggest regret of all the presidency. "I think I was unprepared for war," Bush told ABC News' Charlie Gibson in an interview airing today on "World News." "In other words, I didn't campaign and say, 'Please vote for me, I'll be able to handle an attack,'" he said. "In other words, I didn't anticipate war. Presidents -- one of the things about the modern presidency is that the unexpected will happen."

    On the economy:

"I'm sorry it's happening, of course," Bush said in a wide-ranging interview with ABC's "World News," which was airing Monday. "Obviously I don't like the idea of people losing jobs, or being worried about their 401(k)s. On the other hand, the American people got to know that we will safeguard the system. I mean, we're in. And if we need to be in more, we will."

On helping clinch the presidency for Obama:

"I think it was a repudiation of Republicans," he told Charlie Gibson of ABC News, according to a transcript released by the network Monday. "And I'm sure some people voted for Barack Obama because of me. I think most people voted for Barack Obama because they decided they wanted him to be in their living room for the next four years explaining policy."

On sending Jorge to the moon:

    "That shti was EPIC!"

    Raven's holiday shopping guide

Monday, December 1, 2008, 09:12 PM EST [General]

So we are all feeling the money crunch this holiday season and I'm here to help you. We could all use a few ideas of what to get some people this year and new ways to save some money.

Here's my ideas for you for this holiday season:

Buy something that they can use every day. For a mom or grandma, buy them something for the kitchen like a new blender and get them a great cookbook on smoothie recipes or get them a new slow cooker and buy them a slow cooker cookbook. Or get some new table linens complete with napkins and napkin rings. Did you know that you can find stuff like this for super cheap at stores like JoAnn Fabrics, Home Goods or Target? And it doesn't have to be holiday patterns, go for something useful and everyday.

Last year and the year before that I got my sister a basket filled with toilettree items. 2 years ago she was leaving right after the holidays for a semester in Africa, last year it was a semester in Antarctica. So I thought, why not get her things to get clean and girlie again. The first year I filled up a big metal bucket with all sorts of shower and beauty products. Last year I filled up a laundry basket. She can use both the basket and bucket. And all of the products inside were things that I know she used or would love. And I even threw in her favorite perfume and make up. I also could afford that last year. This year, not so much. Here's my idea to make a great gift similar that every girl could use:

A few years ago I went to Ikea and got a foot tub, it's downstairs in the market place. They even have them at grocery stores and Target. It's that square tub that you can soak your feet in. Get one of those and fill it up with pedicure supplies - get a nice foot soak, a pumice stone, a nice pedicure tool kit and some nice lotion and polish. If you want to splurge you can get some nice salon quality polishes. Every girl can use a pedicure, not every girl can afford to go to the salon these days, so why not bring the salon to the girl??

Need a gift for dad? How about a universal remote? I know, these are sometimes looked at as lame gifts but really they can be helpful. If your dad is anything like my dad, he gets a bit overwhelmed with the remotes and doesn't know the difference between any of them. Get a universal one and even more important, take the time and help him program it and show him how to use it. Then this way he'll be happy. And when dad is happy, mom is happy. So really, it's a gift for both of them.

Need ideas for siblings? High school, college or even middle school aged siblings would love a new digital camera. And these days you can find great deals on nice inexpensive good quality cameras at most stores. You just have to do homework and while you're surfing the internet, check out sale ads online. Most stores post them. Just go search. Anyway, back to the camera, get them something that they can carry in their pocket, take to parties and still take good quality pictures with. I know when my sister was in school, she would damage her nice, expensive camera at parties and on school trips. She even dropped it in a river once. So get her a cheaper, inexpensive camera that she can take to that frat party and drop in a cup of beer. You can find something for under 100 bucks easily if you do your homework.

Other ideas: Do you have to get someone a gift and this someone happens to already have everything? Why not get them cases and covers for all of their gadgets? They make a cover and case for everything these days. Just find something that they'd like, get them a bundle! I believe that's what they call it these days.

Have a good friend whom you are just stumped for? Get them your favorite recipe with all of the ingredients and get them a dish to make it all in. Have a really easy casserole dish you like to make? Get them all the stuff you need to make it and a glass dish that you can get at the grocery store.

Or for your bff why not get them a bunch of the movies that you two grew up watching on DVD and a nice bowl and a box of microwave popcorn? That way you two can have a girlie night and watch all these movies together. One year I got my BFF a big fluffy pillow and some jammies and we watched movies all night long.  She still has the pillow!!

Need something for the man? This could be the hardest gift of all. The universal remote could work too, infact I should get one too cuz right now looking at our coffee table, we have at least 3. Dumbells are a great idea and if you get him an Ipod shuffle, load it with his favorite work out songs, maybe he'll work out and beef up for you.

I'm also all about giving a gift that helps you get something in return. Does your man have an obsession with his car? Get him stuff to wash and keep the car clean and throw it all in a bucket and inside the bucket, throw in a bikini and promise to help him once it warms up. You can even throw in an old bikini, chances are he doesn't remember you even have it.

Is your man the type that has to wear a suit every day? Instead of getting him a new shirt or tie, spring for some new accessories, stuff that he wouldn't normally go buy for himself or tell you he needs. A new belt or wallet really goes a long way. And if you get him a wallet, put a picture of yourself inside, cute right? You can also go with a new tie tack or if he ever gets fancy pants on you, cufflinks. You can get nice, inexpensive cufflinks and all of these at stores like Kohls or Target.

You can even get him the perfect Saturday morning lounging outfit, slippers and a bathrobe. You can get that at stores like Target too. And you can even get him a big box of his favorite cereal and maybe even his favorite cartoon on DVD.

Just remember to look for ads online, you don't have to get newspapers to get the ads. Also you should sign up for VIP clubs at grocery stores. I did this last week for the ones that I'm not already a member of. They are free and all you have to do is sign up online. In about a week you'll get the cards in the mail. Just hang on to them, you might need to stop by some store on your way home one day and this way if something you need is on sale, you'll get the discount.

Also don't forget to make a list. A lot of people overspend at the holidays because they forget that they've already purchased gifts. Make a list of all of your friends and family that you  need to purchase items for and start brainstorming. Then stick to that list.

And for coworkers, especially if you have a lot, I'd go with something homemade. You can make cookies or candy or fudge in large quantities for pretty cheap, especially if you join those clubs and shop their ads online before you go to the store. It might be worth going an extra 5 miles down the road to that other grocery store if you can save about $30 bucks. You can buy gift boxes online from wholesalers in small sizes and large quantities. Just fill them up with your goodies and add a festive holiday ribbon and you're all set. I'll show you in a few weeks once I get mine ready to go.

Once I come up with more ideas, I'll share, but please if you have ideas too, share them!!

    Good luck!

    XOXO

AGE OF ORTON I HOPE STAYS IN THE WWE

Monday, December 1, 2008, 09:01 PM EST [General]

just read today tht WWE has offered my man, Randy Orton, a 10 yr contract deal. Orton has yet to accept it, but it shows tht WWE wants him to stay because they know tht he is the franchise plyer in the game right now. Randy is the only man to have the longest IC regin in the past decade (8 months). Also being the youngest Heavyweight champ in WWE history. I mean if Orton left RAW and the WWE i would not be able to stand tht dumb quote "u want some, come get some" by the worst world heavyweight champ in history. Randy is the Franchise plyer in the game not Cena. I hope Orton takes tht contract deal cuz if he does not and goes to TNA not only does WWE lose the hottest young commodity in the business Randy Orton but i think Randy will destroy his career with TNA. Of course being a big fan of his and the way he destroys the competition, i will always support wht he does cuz i think THE AGE OF ORTON IS THE BEST THING SINCE THE ATTITUDE ERA.
